3D Objects – Shadowbox
Artistic Picture Framing
RUBBER MOLD
After our client discovered this rubber mold among her late father’s belongings, we were honored to restore and preserve it. We carefully cleaned the oxidized surface and applied a smooth, protective coating to revitalize the piece. To create a lasting family keepsake, we custom-built a 3-inch deep solid walnut shadow box, complete with a decorative fillet and a fabric mat. The display is finished with museum glass to provide an anti-reflective, crystal-clear view of this meaningful heirloom.
TEA BAG DRESS
This unique piece, though appearing to be dried florals, is skillfully made from used tea bags. We highlighted the artwork's metallic embellishments by using a gold silk mat and fillet for the interior walls, all set against a rich silk background. The design is completed with a warm walnut cap box frame and museum-grade acrylic, ensuring the delicate textures remain crisp and protected from static.
ANTIQUE TURKISH KNIFE
We designed this shadow box to balance bold texture with classic detailing. A vibrant red suede mat provides a rich, tactile backdrop, while the black cap frame keeps the focus on the contents. A gold beaded fillet serves as 'jewelry' for the design, providing a sophisticated transition between the mat and the frame, all housed under anti-reflective museum glass.
BEADED HEAD PIECE
To highlight the craftsmanship of this 'all-bead headpiece,' we housed it in a bespoke acrylic box. The base is built with a double-frame design for added depth and elegance, paired with a linen mat that offers a natural, high-end contrast to the detailed beadwork.
AFRICAN TRIBE WEAPONS
We personally hand-wrapped this large-scale work in off-white burlap to create a warm, organic backdrop. Spanning 6 feet by 30 inches, the display is housed in a deep walnut cap frame and protected by Optium Museum Acrylic—the industry's highest standard for clarity, UV protection, and anti-static properties.
SCULPTURE
We kept the design intentional and understated for this piece, using a white cap frame with a pop of yellow trim. White continuous shadow walls provide a clean architectural backdrop, ensuring the artwork takes center stage without being overshadowed by the framing.
CARNIVAL HEADDRESS
This elaborate Carnival Headdress required a specialized display, so we constructed a deep black shadowbox with a five-inch extension to provide the necessary breathing room for its feathers and beads. The piece is set against a vibrant blue linen mat with matching shadow walls for a cohesive look, finished with museum glass to preserve the delicate materials for a lifetime.
MAASAI JEWELRY + WALKING STICK
We employed a meticulous, non-invasive sewing method to conservationally float mount both the jewelry pieces and the walking stick, ensuring the integrity of the fabric mat remained intact. The display is housed within a deep walnut cap frame, designed to create ample shadowbox walls. This depth, combined with Optium Museum Acrylic, guarantees the items are perfectly preserved and protected without touching the glazing.
